DIRECTORS STATEMENT

We presented this concept through the eyes of love sick Roman Scott, whose intoxicated fantasies are interrupted by his alter-ego; a half-naked reporter wearing a leopard print robe, wielding a camera.

Roman Scott is in a state of emotional turmoil, swinging between ecstasy and elation, sorrow, torment and despair. Gagged and bound, he submits to love (a woman in red, a roller-girl dominatrix, who tempts, teases and tortures him, crushing his ego to the point of surrender).

It’s a smack in the face from the outset, taking you on a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows, leaving you stunned and confused, echoing his inner state.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Originally for this track I had imagined making a sun-drenched, R&B-style music video, something fit for the airbrushed glory days of the 90’s Pop era. But after a 3 day trip to Barcelona, hours of trawling through rushes and a hole in my pocket, my vision remained unfulfilled. I approached Cinema Lumina to see if anything was salvageable, but instead they proposed a new concept.

Flipping the original idea on its head, their concept was to make a film that would challenge people’s perceptions of a 'generic pop music video' about 'love and relationships' as opposed to one that glorified them. On the surface the track could seem like a lighthearted and a fairly superficial depiction of falling in love, but in all honesty the relationship in which the song came from had darker undertone, it was this darker undertone that the team picked up on and gave the song an even deeper meaning.
